Sony has had a cyber wake-up call in the last few weeks as a result of the cyber attack for the group called #GOP. One of the things exposed was that Sony had stored their user’s passwords in a folder called passwords and did not properly encrypt the passwords. So poor password hygiene has left Sony very exposed. This is a good reminder that in this day and age, there are probably people who have illegitimate access inside your network and if you give them the keys to the engine they will almost certainly use it. The lesson to be learnt here is that passwords need to be strong and they always need to be stored in a properly encrypted form.
