A recent interview highlighting why European tech companies need to plan their exits with as much care as they plan the growth of their business.
Who’s looking at Europe in the US? We spend a lot of time on the West Coast talking to all the big tech buyers over there. There’s a growing awareness of Europe, but there’s also a huge amount of stuff going on in Silicon Valley. The challenge for Europe is that activity is up in the US as well. If you can buy a business that’s just down the road, why go to Europe? That’s the challenge. It can be fixed by companies in Europe being more international from day one and spending time in Silicon Valley, talking to the big tech companies, building partnerships with those groups, getting to know the European wings of all these companies and trying to do something together. It definitely takes more effort for European companies to get acquired by the big US buyers.
