Having been spun out of Intel and acquired by private equity, McAfee is working fast to show its independence and new direction. It is investing in areas that will make it relevant to corporate customers, rather than being perceived as a vendor of legacy end-point and hardware protection products. The showcasing of its most recent research of Shamoon Malware is specifically designed to demonstrate its credibility with corporate customers, and promote its Threat Landscape Dashboard.

As a proof point of this commitment, McAfee released evidence that a series of Shamoon malware campaigns targeting Saudi Arabia are the work of one coordinated force of attackers, rather than that of multiple independent renegade hacker groups.
